SOHO Vanity Organizer

I had been looking for something to put my brushes in because I usually put them in my makeup box but the box just wasn't made for holding brushes. I mean, it was really made for holding makeup. My poor brushes would get crushed in there and I had nowhere to put them. Back in the day, I would just use my little souvenir mugs for holding my makeup but nowadays I actually use them for drinking things, mostly hot chocolate. So, I was looking for something small to put on my desk.

I happened to be in Walmart one day looking for lightbulbs, which happened to be near the makeup section so I went to go check that out just for fun. Found this awesome item there for $6.97, which is cheap enough for me. It is small, just like I wanted. It has 6 small spaces, 2 medium spaces, and one large space. It also differs in height, kind of like stadium seating. I really love it.

Now it sits nicely on my table by the window next to my Hello Kitty makeup brushes. It surprisingly holds a lot of stuff and is able to hold all the brushes that I own. I may not have as many brushes as real makeup artists, but I consider myself as having more brushes than the average person. Haha there is still even a bit of space left, perhaps I should buy more brushes then?

My Portable Nintendo Game Consoles

I just wanted to make this post because apparently it's surprising that I still have my old consoles and they still work just fine. I'm not that old, am I? I mean, I like to keep them as like a souvenir of my childhood, in a way. So here they are:

My old gameboy color! My first gameboy. I got it when I was 8 years old so that was a long time ago. It's purple and a little see through. I put a few stickers on it and I'm surprised they actually stayed on. Still works just fine, but changing the battery all the time is so time and money consuming.

I skipped getting a gameboy advance and got a gameboy SP. I loved the color silver then (and I still do). I got this when I was 12 and I thought it was the coolest and sleekest thing ever. I used to pretend that it was a phone because that's kind of what it looked like. I remember I was so amazed that it didn't need batteries and you could actually charge it from the outlet like a cell phone. It was the most high tech thing at the time!

I fell off the whole nintendo thing once I got older just because none of my friends didn't have any of the consoles and my parents wouldn't get me one because the new DS consoles were too expensive for them. I asked for it every year and they kept saying no. Sophomore year in college, decided to just buy it myself when the limited edition of the pokemon black/white DSi consoles came out. Got the white one of course. I loved it to death.

Once I heard that Nintendo was coming out with Pokemon x/y on 3DS, I had to get a 3DS. I didn't just want some boring 3DS though, because it's hard to top my love for my old DSi. Then news came of this release and I just had to get one. They released it March 24 and I was in Target, first thing in the morning, to get myself one. I chose target because they were having a sale on all consoles and the price of this dropped to $159.99 (being previously $199.99). It was such a steal. I couldn't pass it up.

Splat Hair Dye - Jet Black

I've been dying my hair black for quite a while. My hair is black naturally, but not the jet black that I like. I do like super dark black because I feel like it makes my face lighter and really makes my colored contacts pop more. Also, it is an easy upkeep for me because it is only a few shades darker than my natural hair so I don't have to deal with overly obvious root growth. I've been dying my hair also because the red color I got way back is really stubborn and won't go away. When the black starts to fade, the red kind of shines through.

I've tried a lot of black hair dyes before but Splat is my favorite. It gives me a super dark black and I feel like it has lasted longer than all the other hair dyes I have tried. I've only really seen it sold in Walmart, where  bought it for $8.98. It was odd to me that they didn't have it in stores like ULTA or Target.

I never really like the gloves provided in hair dyes. It might be because I have small hands so they never fit. I prefer to use medical gloves in a size small. Hehe they are latex free and actually fit my hand. It doesn't rip and the dye has never gone through and stained my hand.

I really like this dye and I'll probably keep using it. It's pretty affordable compared to having my hair done at the salon. I'm not worried about the color being uneven because it's just black and my hair is already black so it won't be noticeable.

Grey Slouch Beanie

I loved the black beanie that I bought last time because it was so loose that I went ahead and bought another one in grey. The black one, I had actually bought for my friend and I was so jealous of it. But I have black hair and the hat matched the color of my hair so I didn't feel like getting a black one for myself so I got a dark gray one. Once again, bought it from ebay.

Price: $2.49 + free shipping
Color: Grey
Seller: lilyyangstore

It's my new favorite beanie to keep my head warm for the winter. It's so stretchy that if I put my hair in a bun, the beanie can still fit it. It's not so loose that it can just fall off my head but it's not too tight either. Now my friend and I can be matchies!

Piplup is modelling the beanie for me. His head is much larger and rounder than mine, which is perfect in showing of how stretchy it can be! Doesn't piplup look so cute with the beanie?

Blue polka dot headband

I've been seeing a lot of these type of headband thingies on my tumblr dashboard lately. I've decided to join the bandwagon once again since they seemed really cute. I wanted to find one that was really cheap so as usual, I look to ebay for my cheap alternative. A lot of them on ebay had kiddie designs and I wanted one that wasn't quite so pastel. Then I found this.

Price: $1.99 + free shipping
Seller: shanghai.box

I wasn't sure what to expect since I've never owned anything like this and I didn't know how the headband kept its shape despite gravity. When I got the item, I found out that it has a bendable metal wire inside that lets it keep any shape I want it. Of course, I had a little too much fun with this.

I got the dark blue color with white polka dots. I've really been loving the color dark blue lately. I wanted a red one but there wasn't a nice deep dark red one. The red they had was a very bright red and I didn't want that. LOL you can see angry DOMO in the back.

Like I said, it's super bendable. The wire seems strong and it hasn't broken yet despite all the manipulations, since metals tend to do that. Hopefully, I don't break this one.

Running 10,000 Miles Away

Another interesting dream of mine. I told my friends about it because we happened to be talking about dreams the next day and trying to interpret them. When I asked what the interpretation of my dream would be, they had no clue.

My family and I went to visit my grandpa at his house. On his front lawn, he has these robotic dinosaurs that look like they were straight out of the Jurassic Park movies. They were so realistic and life sized. He said he got them for me and my brother to play with.

We go inside and we are talking and my mother just insults me about something. This was the last straw and I was just tired of her shit so I go upstairs. I planned to lock myself in my room but instead, I went outside and in my car. My mother, from inside the house, laughed and pretty much dared me to go through with it since she didn't think I would.

Well I took her dare and I actually drove away. I drove through a lot of suburban roads on the wrong side of the road but people didn't seem to mind. Eventually I got on to the right side and drove for a total of 10,000 miles. There was nothing on the road but old abandoned buildings at one point. Then I came upon a long metal bridge leading to a city. I did a whole Britney Spears in the "Stronger" music video and ditched my car in the middle of the rain on the bridge and walked to the city.

The city was an eccentric city. I described it to be like Tokyo and their style was very Harajuku/Lady Gaga. The difference was they were all very dark skinned African like people, much of them were very tall and I stuck out like a sore thumb. I was then adopted by these two awesome drag queens who taught me everything they knew. I dressed like them and did my makeup like them. I would use their foundation and put it all over myself so that I could blend in better.

I was looking in the mirror with my dark skin and bleach blonde hair and lady gaga outfit in all black with a shiny corset and thigh high boots. The drag queens also happened to be prostitutes and they had been training me to be a professional well known prostitute as well (think "companions" in Firefly or I guess the old fashioned "Geisha"). Today was going to be my first assignment as I had been specially picked and hired by someone.

My client turned out to be some white guy, obviously a foreigner. All he wanted to do though was have me go around the city and cosplay with him.

The End.

Sewing Needles and Thimbles

During the weekend, I got my friend to do a favor for me and sew some stuff together. She wasn't used to sewing so I had to teach her and during her sewing, she broke my only two needles. So, we had to go out and buy some more. We went to Michaels and just went on a little spree.

We didn't spend that much money because we bought the cheapest stuff but we paid for it all in coins. I'm glad the cashier was a nice optimistic person so she wasn't at all annoyed that we used all coins for the purchase.

First we got some needles. Well actually, a lot of needles. This pack has 50 needles in it! $3.29

Then we got this little kit. It was cheap and I had been looking for a hook type needle for a while. $1.99

Then we got some badly needed thimbles because our poor thumbs just can't take much more abuse. $2.29

Maybelline Dream Fresh BB Cream

I've finally joined the BB Cream bandwagon (yes, I'm quite late)  and bought myself some BB cream. Before, I would only use this cheap tinted face moisturizer from ELF because I don't really count my skin as terrible so I don't use anything for coverage like foundation. Also, I have oily skin so I don't like to put much on my face for fear of break outs. I never even used my tinted moisturizer that much, only on particularly cold and dry winter days. Well, weeks of no use made my tinted moisturizer spill and crap out so I needed something new. I've heard such good things about BB cream so I decided to get myself one.

I got this from ULTA. It was the cheapest BB cream I could find in the store. I didn't want to spend a lot of money on a type of product I'm only trying for the first time. The original price was $8.99 but with a coupon and a special 50% off Maybelline products, it only really cost me $4.99.

The product comes on a little bit thicker than I had expected. Although it says it only has a sheer tint, there is nothing sheer about it. It gives some pretty significant coverage in my opinion. It does nicely cover up the redness on my cheeks and makes my skin look lighter, which I love! It felt a little thick on my face at first because I'm not used to using face products but I'm getting used to it now and I don't really notice it anymore.

I got a few zits at first and I thought it was just because I was stressed. However, as time went by, my forehead really broke out and I stopped using it. My face is super oily so it doesn't accept most facial creams. I stopped using it and now it is getting better. I still like it though, but I will use it sparingly just like foundation.

Garnier Skin Renew Miracle Skin Perfector B.B. Cream

My mom gave me some random samples from a magazine of the Garnier BB cream. They came in two shades so I decided to go ahead and try them out. I tried the Medium/Deep on my friend with darker skin and the Light/Medium on myself.

So this product felt a lot like foundation to me. It felt very thick. For my friend, who has a lot of face redness, it did a good job of covering that up and really making her skin look even. For me, it was a little too thick for my taste. I don't usually wear foundation. I often go with a naked face or with some tinted moisturizer. The color blended with my skin very nicely though.

Maybelline Super Stay 10hr Stain Gloss - Pink Plush

I had bought this product before in a different color (Berry Heavenly). I liked it so much that I decided to go buy another one in another color that I liked. I bought this one at ULTA. It was originally $8.99 but with a coupon and a special 50% off all Maybelline products, I only paid $4.99 for it.

I thought the color was supposed to be a light pink but it is actually quite a dark pink. I was hoping for something light and pastel almost. Still, I do like the color. The product has a nice consistency and lasts quite a while. I just wish the color were lighter.

Moments from March

Hair Washing Day

I realized how much hair I had that day. I couldn't wash them all on the same day because there wasn't anymore space to hang them in my bathroom! I only washed two sets one night and washed another set the next night. But now they are so nice and soft and clean.

A trip to Carytown

I'm so addicted to chocolate. I never fail to visit a chocolate shop for some yummy truffles. This store, in my opinion, is one of the best. They have such a large collection of candy. The small truffles were only $0.49 while the larger ones were just $0.99!

Stopped by this game shop. I don't exactly remember the name of it. It had this container of varied dice. My friend and I went ahead and bought some because we are just so weird. We paid in all coins.

We still had a bit of time to kill before I had to meet up with my other friends at a restaurant. So we hung out in the car because we were tired of walking. My friend took a nap while I tried to take some good selfies. It was hard because of the weird lighting of the car. I still had class that day so I didn't wear a lot of makeup.

Then met up with some friends and the birthday girl for Thai food, the restaurant of her choice. It was her 21st birthday so we convinced her to get a drink. She liked this cocktail called the Hello Kitty. It was so pink and didn't have a lot of alcohol, which was good since she didn't like the taste of it. Then the restaurant gave us free dessert! It was delicious and our server was super nice.

Idea Exchange

Went to this event at VCU called the Idea Exchange, which is supposed to be their attempt at a TED talk. I do mean attempt because they aren't quite up to par with real TED talks. They had a lot of technical issues and the speakers were ok. They had good topics but I felt it could have been presented better. They advertised free food so I decided to go, plus I needed that last stamp for the Honors College. I thought I might as well look nice so I dressed up a bit.

Decided to wear my extensions because it was a nice day and they were so clean and wavy. I feel so feminine when I have them in, but my head gets hot easily. Perhaps I'm wearing too much hair? I'm wearing my long hair set, medium hair set, and top piece. Do you believe there is such a thing as too much hair?

Snowy Sunday at Short Pump

Woke up super early Sunday to get to target once they opened to get a hold of the newly released pikachu 3DS XL for a discounted price. At first they said they didn't have it which crushed my hopes. When we checked about 30 minutes later, the guy said he was mistaken and they did. I have one now. So happy!

Went to five below a little later in the day to pick up some headphones for myself and earphones for myself. Both were only $5. I like headphones better than earphones because I feel like they stay better and have better quality. When I have money, I want to get a nice expensive pair of good headphones. My dream headphones would be those white Beats headphones.

Then we went to ULTA and I got myself this lotion on sale for $3.99 but then I had points for $3 off so it really only cost me 99 cents. The cashier was kind of rude when I asked to use my points. Then went over to Short Pump mall for some freebies.

My friend had a coupon for a free cup of tea from Teavana. They didn't have the flavor on the coupon so instead they gave her a different strawberry flavored tea. She said it was delicious but I'm not a fan of tea so I didn't like it when I tried it. It smelled delicious though. Then we went to Godiva for our free truffle of the month. We got a cookie dough truffle. It was so sweet and yummy.

It was the last day for the Meloetta gamestop event. I got one in my white version and my white 2 version. Then I bought a nice black case for my new 3DS XL which I will decorate later.

And it continues to snow through march. I was hoping school would get cancelled but we didn't have that much snow so it was only a delay. A lot of my friends and I were hoping it would be enough to cancel our afternoon class because we had an exam. Oh well, guess that was too much to hope for.

March has gone. April is here. Time flies by so quickly.
