One Week in Paradise, Day 1

This summer, my family wanted to go somewhere else for a change. This time, we are going to Mexico, more specifically Puerto Vallarta. The day started early with a 6am flight to our layover in Houston.I had to wake up at 2:45 am because a cab was arriving to pick us up at 3:30 am. Check in and TSA was relatively quick since it was so early in the morning. I slept lightly on the plane. The seats weren't all that comfortable. The layover at Houston was 3 hours long and it was also my first time in Texas. The flight to Mexico was uneventful but once in the airport, the story gets interesting. We are at the baggage claim to pick up our luggage when we find that only one out of our three check in luggages were there. The line to the customer service was also long because quite a few other people did not have their bags. We were told our luggage was still in Houston and that it will come tomorrow at 11 am. My mom and I were so angry since it was our luggage specifically that was missing. I hate United Airlines.

The resort we are staying at is called Paradise Village Beach Resort and Spa. This place is in Nuevo Vallarta and is super huge. I mean, this place is really big. Many of the employees do speak English, which is such a relief for me. My Spanish is terrible.

Let's begin with the hotel room. For once, I get my own room! I have a huge king sized bed all to myself and my own bathroom. Each bedroom has lots of space to put clothes. My room has a closet and dresser and two side tables that also has drawers. Each bedroom has its own thermostat and ceiling fan. The bathroom is quite large. It has a tub/shower that is very aesthetically pleasing with the material and color it is made of. The sink also has a lot of counter space. Each room also has a TV. My room does not receive any natural light but the other room has a large glass sliding door that leads to the deck.

The hotel room is a suite style with a kitchen and living area as well as an eating area. The deck is also very large and has a fantastic view of the marina. This wing of the hotel is also the quieter part of the resort since the other wings face busy areas such as the pool or the beach. Our hotel room is at the end of the hall so our deck wraps around the room. There are also nice little touches such as decorative plants and ancient looking figurines.

We had a whole welcome talk afterwards with a customer service person. It was standard for all new customers. She explained all the different daily events of the resort as well as the places in the resort such as the different restaurants and the zoo and tennis courts and just a whole bunch of other things. It was kind of overwhelming. Since we had a tired and pretty irritating day from the whole luggage thing, we just ate dinner at the nearby restaurant Mayapon.
