Dinner at the Salamander

I had a family dinner at the Salamander resort in Middleburg, which is not very far from my own house. The whole resort was very prettily decorated. Their food was very good although their wings were very salty. For dessert, their donuts were really delicious. I wanted more pictures but after dinner, we had to leave quickly for a family friend's house to do a gift exchange. I at least got to wear my new dress from Target.

Christmas is only a few days away and I'm so excited! Happy Holidays!

Christmas at the Waterford

Once again, I attended a Christmas Party at the Waterford with my family. I feel as if this will be somewhere we go every year. Anyway, my new holiday dress is from Target, $27.99 I believe. I call it my Elsa dress since it is actually more of a light powder blue with white lace on top. This dress is so pretty that someone else at the party was even wearing it! I went to my company party about a week later and I saw someone wearing that as well, but I was wearing a different dress luckily enough. It's fun to match with people you are friends with, not so much with workplace strangers. Also wearing my new black boots from Charlotte Russe.

Happy Holidays!

New 3DS XL - Hyrule Gold Edition

With all these games that I want coming out on the new 3ds console, I just knew I had to get one. However, I wouldn't have been satisfied with just any ordinary console. My DSi and 3DS XL have both been limited edition, so I thought I would continue that. Mostly, I really wanted if for the new Majora's Mask game and Happy Home Designer. I wanted to wait until a pokemon limited edition out but with no news yet on a new pokemon game, I decided to go ahead and get the limited edition Hyrule Gold that came out on October 30. Of course I pre-ordered on my local gamestop. These LoZ ones always sell out quickly. I wasn't able to get my hands on the Majora's Mask one when it came out because I didn't have money at the time but that's ok, I like this one better. The AC Happy Home Designer bundle was also cute but sadly it was a reg size one rather than XL and I don't think I could revert to a smaller console.

The console was $199.99 and since I was already there, I went ahead and bought three other games: Majora's Mask, Happy Home Designer, and Ocarina of Time. I'm not sure yet if I want to get Triforce Heroes. I, sadly and pathetically, have no one else to play it with so that's why I don't want it. The console itself actually has more of the color of brass rather than gold.

To match, I got the Majora's Mask Gold theme available at the theme shop for $1.99 I believe. There are some sites you can download custom themes for free but I was too lazy for that. Also, I got the adventure pouch 3ds case that comes with two stylus(es?) and a screen cleaner. One stylus is a Hylian Shield and the other is a Master Sword. The screen cleaner is a map of Hyrule.

It might be a bit of an understatement to say I went on a massive and frivolous spending spree and part of it might have been retail therapy due to my horrific hair cut. Well, we may never know. Anyway, I'm happy and I have no regrets. Now time to become even more of a shut-in than I usually am.

Warby Parker Glasses

It was the time for my yearly eye appointment and though my vision hadn't changed much, it was definitely time for a new style of glasses. For a while now I had been sporting the same style of glasses probably since I first got glasses in sixth grade. However, styles have changed and vintage large frames are back.

I was introduced to Warby Parker by my friend Rachel (thirteenoctobers) when they did a little kiosk stand at the Nordstrom in Tysons. Warby Parker then opened up a store in Georgetown, which I visited with another friend who also got her glasses there and sang their praises. So I brought my prescription from my eye doctor to them on October 22 and got my order in right away. They told me my package would arrive November 3 but it actually arrived on October 27, so only 5 days to get to me!

The packaging is very nice. It came in a black box and inside was a light grey hard glasses case that is blue on the inside. There is also a soft glasses case inside. The glasses were actually too wide so I had to get them adjusted, which I did back at the store for free. It took a bit of time to get used to the new glasses and prescription but I absolutely love them.

The glasses I got were the style "Nash" in the color whiskey tortoise. They cost $95 but since my prescription as high, I paid an extra $30 for the thinner lenses. The lenses come anti-scratch and anti-glare as a standard. They also have 100% UV protection. The shipping was free and the glasses come with a one year warranty for scratches where they will replace your lenses for free.

These lenses are huge and I just really love them. I never thought such large glasses would look good on me and I've actually avoided the whole trend for a long time. I just believed that they would look terrible but I ended up actually really liking this style. With such large lenses, my field of vision is larger now too!

Adventure Cuff

Two of my friends have ordered these adventure cuffs from etsy a while back. They are customizable in that you can put a custom quote on it. I really liked the ones my friends had so I decided to get some for myself. So there are two options for the cuff: brass and silver. I decided to get one of each. The silver cuff was $25 and the brass cuff was $15. Shipping was $5 each, so $10 in total, which is a bit ridiculous but I was like whatever.

Then the troubles started. I ordered the item on October 9. The page said ready to ship in 1-2 weeks. I messaged after two weeks inquiring the status of my order. No reply. I sent another message through etsy two days later. No reply. I even messaged her hotmail, no reply. I then opened an etsy case and only then did she finally reply to my messages. I opened this case October 28. The package was listed as shipped on etsy on October 3. However, the status did not change for days. I looked it up on the USPS site and the status means a shipping label was printed out, not necessarily that the package was given to the USPS for delivery. I then messaged the seller through the case about this on November 4 and only then did the seller actually ship the item. I then received the package on November 7, almost a month later.

They came in these cute little bags. The cuffs themselves are very nice and fit nicely on my wrist. They are also bendable so the size can be manipulated to your liking. The silver cuff is much thicker and stiffer than the brass cuff. For some reason, both cuffs were very dirty. I wiped them quite a bit when I received them and had black residue all over my fingers. Not sure what that was all about. I did have to manipulate the cuffs quite a bit to fit the shape of my wrist. However now they fit perfectly!

The silver cuff says "Truth x Ideals" and the brass cuff says "Never tell me the odds". Kudos to you who know where those come from. I do love the cuffs but because of the whole experience, I would probably never buy from this seller again nor recommend that others do if she continues in this state. Etsy does offer a variety of sellers that offer customizable cuffs. I will most likely order from a different seller in the future.

GEO Fresh Color Grey Toric Lenses

This is my first review for toric circle lenses. Sadly, I have astigmatism. Although these toric lenses are quite expensive, I've decided to at least try them out. These lenses are from uniqso and cost $59.90, which you can see is quite the price gap from their normal lenses. They processing also takes much longer. Whereas with normal lenses, processing was quick and the lenses were usually shipped within the week, processing for these lenses took more than a month.

For these lenses, the diameter is 14.2mm. I've noticed that the enlargement for the toric lenses available at uniqso only go up to 14.2mm, most are 14.0mm. So that's a bit disappointing. The base curve is 8.6mm and the water content is 38%. The shipping was actually very quick since I was eligible for free DHL express shipping. Also, they do not have the official stickers on the top because I requested for them to simply be shipped rather than to wait for the stickers to come.

Color & Design
The color is not very bright, which makes it look more natural on my almost black eyes. I find this to be a characteristic of most GEO lenses though. They don't make very bright lenses.

Enlargement
The enlargement is hardly noticeable. It doesn't enlarge my eyes much at all and I think that's my biggest disappointment with this and toric lenses in general.

Comfort
These are extremely comfortable and can be worn for hours without my eyes feeling dry.

Overall
This was my first time trying on toric lenses and the biggest thing for me is that it is expensive. Not to mention it doesn't enlarge my eyes much, which for me makes buying toric circle lenses a little bit pointless. I probably would not buy them again but it was worth trying them though.

To be honest, they all seem about the same to me. They mostly even smell the same. The masks themselves don't fit my face very well. The hole for the eyes are oddly shaped and I usually make them large so the serum doesn't get into my eyes. However, I will say all the masks leave me skin feeling very nice. I tend to put them on and take a nap. My skin feels so moisturized and fresh afterwards. I would definitely buy this whole pack again but I need to get through all of the ones I have first!

In the heart of Times Square

In September, I went on a family trip to New York City just for the weekend. The good thing about these family trips is I never have to drive. We headed there Friday. Stopped by New Jersey to catch up with some family that we don't get to see to often. They brought us to the Garden State plaza mall which is where I finally got to try the Max Brenner chocolate bar/cafe. I love that place by the way. I need to schedule a date to the one in Bethesda with some friends. Afterwards we made our way to New York.

We knew our hotel was near Times Square, but sadly our GPS led us right through Times Square. Now that was a very irritating drive. After we checked in, my parents went out to dinner while my brother and I walked around Times Square. Anyway, my brother is ten and he was highly amused by all the characters in the city. There were also lots of half naked women, which made him laugh and he referred to them as the "naked butt cheek ladies."

For Saturday, we had brunch at this place called Cafe Un Deux Trois. The food was really delicious and came with chardonnay. My stepdad didn't want his drink so I happily had two glasses first thing in the morning. Later, we watched the matinee showing of the Lion King Broadway. It was amazing and the sound track is amazing. I recommend seeing it. Afterwards, we went to the nintendo store where I bought some plushies. I just could not resist buying such cute plushies. Although, most people may not think my Tingle plushie is cute. We also stopped by the NBC store.

We went to mass at St. Patrick's cathedral, which is where the pope would be doing his visit the week after. Then we went to this ramen place called Ippudo. The food was really good and surprisingly not far from our hotel. We just walked back to the hotel from there but not after spending a shit ton of money on star wars merch at the huge Toys R Us in Times Square. Sorry, just had to have that new Kylo Ren lightsaber.

The next day we had some delicious waffles from this place called Wafels & Dinges in Bryant Park. Then we got some take out for lunch at the sushi place down the street called Wasabi. Then we were back home. Definitely a short stay and hoping to go back already. There are still so many food places to be visited!
