St. Louis Cemetery Tour

Ella and I began our second day with some delicious food and another tour! This time we did a cemetery tour. Our tour guide walked us through a bit of the French Quarter all the way to the famous Saint Louis I Cemetery. This particular cemetery is not open to the public and you need to be with a certified tour guide to get in.

The Cemetery is enclosed by a wall and there are many large above ground tombs that are owned and shared by families. Getting a space here is very expensive and also very prestigious. It even has the tomb of the famous Voodoo Queen and of course the future tomb of Nicholas Cage, which I correctly guessed to be the obnoxious white pyramid in the middle. Surprisingly there is still a lot of open space for future tombs, well for those who can afford it.

This was only the first part of the day. There is still the afternoon! Pictures credited to Ella.
