One Week in Paradise, Day 4

The day started out quite rainy. However, we still decided to go out to the downtown area of Puerto Vallarta called El Malecon. It was a boardwalk type place with lots of weird statues and lots of shops and restaurants. It does seem to be very tourist oriented and much of the places do speak some English. We walked quite a bit since we got a little lost trying to look for the restaurant.

For lunch, we ate at this place called Pipis Tacos or Tacos El Pipis. We had some guacamole and another appetizer that was on the house. My brother got this shrimp dish and the shrimp was huge. It was the biggest shrimp I had ever seen. I had their steak fajitas. Then for dessert we had this huge fried ice cream.

Afterwards, we did a little more walking down the boardwalk. Our final destination was to visit a historical church. After that, we were so tired so we just went home.

Since I had to sleep early that night, I decided to spend some time by exploring more of the resort. I walked around the marina and made my way to the beach. I walked on the long path to the little outlook into the ocean. The waves were really strong by the rocks. Then I explored the other building of the resort. Then I explored that mini aztec pyramid where you can climb to the top. I spent about an hour and a half exploring so I now have a pretty good sense of what was around my resort.

Took an end of the day selfie in my room. It is kind of creepy to me that there is a mirror facing the bed. We just had leftovers for dinner and slept early in anticipation for a very tiring and exciting tomorrow.

One Week in Paradise, Day 3

We started off the morning with a free breakfast for this promotional thing that my parents decided to go to. Afterwards, we were given a tour of the resort. I really wanted to see what was around the resort since the place was so huge and at least this was like a free guided tour.

The guide showed us some buildings that were free only to resort members such as the fitness center and spa. There is also another fitness center with a lap pool and a kids center. The resort also has a variety of options from condos to four bedroom villas that have their own pool and hot tub. For the hotel rooms, he showed us the other options such as the one bedroom and the impressive 3 bedroom suite. The deck of the suite had its own bar and hot tub and three lounge chairs, as well as a great view.

Afterwards, while my parents talked to the guide about time share specific things, my brother and I went out to see the kids club. On the way, we saw the parents and they were out of their cages for people to see. They were quite well behaved and this one white parrot was even dancing for us. When we got to the kids club, my brother didn't want to sat there so we just went back to the hotel.

Afterwards, we spent quite a bit of time at the pool. We started out in the larger and busier pool right by our hotel but then changed to the smaller and quieter pool right next door. It has a more shallow parts so my brother could play since he can't swim. We also checked out the hot tub. I had this floaty thing to be able to relax on the pool as well as more drinks!

Afterwards, we just had pizza for dinner since we were too lazy to go out to eat.

One Week in Paradise, Day 2

Since the supermarket was nearby, we bought quite a few breakfast things so we can just make breakfast ourselves in the hotel room. Today was kind of a slow day since all was focused on the Mexico vs Netherlands game in the World Cup. I missed the first half but watched the second half of the game. Everything seemed to be on stand still for this game. Every bar or restaurant with a TV was packed so we decided to go get food after the game. It was a disappointing loss for Mexico and the game was just so close. I really thought they were going to win 1-0 but those two goals by the Netherlands came quickly at the end.

Afterwards my parents went out for a walk to get food and they took so long. Apparently they walked a mile to the place, found out it was closed, then walked back to just get food in the nearby mall.The food was super delicious though.There was then not much we could do because much of our stuff was in those two luggages we were still missing. It was already 4 pm and United, the worst airlines ever, had still not delivered them. Finally, we we were so angry that we were just about to go to Walmart to get a bathing suit and clothes and sunblock when the luggage finally arrived. Although it did eventually come, I'm still angry with United. I am never going to fly United again. They didn't even offer any compensation for this huge inconvenience. Their customer service was not at all helpful. Worst airline I've ever traveled with.

Finally, we were able to go to the beach and use the waterproof camera. The waves were quite strong and the sand was dark. The water was pretty dark, not at all clear. The nice thing was the water was warm. Not at all like the freezing cold waters of the East Coast.

For dinner, we ate at a restaurant in the resort called El Dynamita which seems to specialize in seafood. They actually asked us what kind of seafood we liked and then created a semi-customized dish for us. We had one appetizer of tuna then three entrees of sea bass, shrimp, and a steak dish that also had octopus. Everything was so delicious. Definitely a great end to the day.
