Happy Halloween

Halloween today! Since I had no school today, I went ahead and went all out on the makeup and hair and everything today. My friend was home so he was nice enough to take pictures of me with his awesome camera. I dressed up as a cute French maid, same as last year.

Most of the stuff are wearable other than Halloween. The shirt, I got from TJmaxx and just opened up the slits a little. Then the skirt was from H&M. Tulle petticoat from amazon for cheap. Then the maid accessory kit for cheap from amazon. Then shoes from target.

Wearing heels in this picture. Almost fell down the steps. Caught back my balance when I grabbed onto the railing. That would have a face first fall into cement if I didn't.

Then changed to flats so I don't fall on my face. Me and the roomies went to chipotle to get discounted food. One of my roomies was a panda and the other two were doctors. We had a pretty good them going on with black and white. I got a burrito bowl and was only charged $2! I even had guacamole in it and they didn't charge me that. It was so awesome cheap and delicious. Everyone at chipotle was dressed up.

I spent so long doing my hair and makeup. Putting in hair extensions takes forever. So much hair. My head was getting pretty hot.

I even got the eyelashes in. They look super cool. I'm addicted to eyelash extensions now! They really do accent the eye so well.

Now here are some terribly low resolution pictures of me from my friends iphone.

Tried to make my eyes look real big in this picture. Haha isn't that almost every Asian girl's goal?

Very memorable Halloween. Didn't get any candy though but that's ok. Guess I'm too old and have to buy my own candy from now on.

Top Piece

I love to wear extensions but I have a short, choppy bob so it doesn't blend all that well. I was really annoyed by this situation because if I'm spending all this money and effort on my hair extensions, I don't want it to look ugly because it doesn't blend. The solution? A top piece clip in extension.

Top-piece 15" Zury Human Hair Blend
$29.99 + $2.15 shipping
seller: beautyfaves-com

Now I was a little apprehensive at first because it is human hair blend and not the 100% Remy Human hair that I've been getting. I've had pretty bad experiences with synthetic extensions before so I was pondering over buying it for a while. There are human hair top pieces available but they were all so expensive and the ones that are 12" or longer were above $100. I was not willing to spend that much on a single item.

Despite my apprehension, I have come to love this item. It is such an essential for me to get any of my extensions to look more natural. It can be curled or straightened to a temperature of 380F. I got it in jet black, color #01. I was also worried about the texture blending because synthetic hair is much shinier and so plastic looking compared to real hair. This one is nice and dark, opaque and not all that shiny.

So it has three clips. Two for the front and one for the back.

It isn't all that thick, which is ok. But it's definitely not something to be used on its own. Here it is up against the light so you can see right through it and see how thin it is. Still I love it.

Before (my hair is pretty short, especially in the back)

After (only wearing the top piece)

Even on its own, it looks pretty good. There is a slight color difference, but it's not so bad. It's the same with my other extensions too. It's just so hard to match the color perfectly.

Obsessed: Contacts edition

I've wanted blue eyes probably since I was a toddler. My favorite barbie was always the light skinned one with the platinum blonde hair and blue eyes (no way in hell was I gonna accept a brunette barbie). I've always admired colored eyes. As a child, seeing those American movie stars with different colored hair and eyes were so cool. It was boring in the Philippines. Everyone had black hair and brown eyes. Even seeing a halfer was special (although parents should beware that your halfer or Caucasian child has a high chance of getting kidnapped, just saying). I always loved blue eyes and blue used to be my favorite color. Obviously things have changed...

Anyway, I first got contacts when I was in middle school, seventh grade. I hated glasses and after being hit with a soccer ball in the face during soccer practice while wearing glasses, I was done with them. I remember I begged my parents for colored contacts. My mother was always against it because she said I would look ridiculous (she still says that). For many years I went through life that way, pretty unsatisfied with my boring brown eyes. It's not even a nice light brown like my mother has. It's the dark brown kind that looks almost black. That is definitely nothing special.

Anyway, when I got into college ( I swear, I don't know why but everything happens in college), my mother actually agreed to buying me some colored contacts! Must have been my years of nagging and begging that annoyed her into finally agreeing. So she got me a pair of gray, green, and hazel contacts. I loved all of them, gray the most and hazel the least. My mother didn't like any of them and she said I looked like a freak (such loving words). When I wore the hazel ones, she said I looked scary and looked like a vampire. Still, I wanted blue ones. She got every other color except for the one I specifically asked for: blue. I got the blue ones eventually. They are currently my favorite colored contacts.

Anyway, I wore those colored contacts all the time. I barely wore the clear ones anymore. In my perspective, I just don't look as good without them. With them, I feel pretty. Without them, I feel boring and forgettable. Yes, I know I'm all insecure and I shouldn't have to rely on such things to make myself feel pretty and whatnot. I'm working on that part. But I'm young still, it's kind of the norm at the moment. I'm sure I'll reach that whole self-acceptance phase in my later years.

Then (as expected, this happens in college), I got introduced to circle lenses. Part of this has to do with Sandy because she is pretty much my only friend who wears circle lenses ( I don't mean that in a bad way!). But her input helped. I asked her a bunch of noob questions probably before I got them. After I got my first circle lenses and tried them on, I was addicted. Probably bad but I wore them like they were normal lenses. And of course, the addiction continues...

Korean Pirate Musical

So I’m taking a nap while a friend is playing Korean music. Well, let’s just say it gave me weird dreams.

So it is like some music video with Big Bang on a ship and they are like the crew of that ship with G-Dragon as the captain in some kind of old English navy suit, like a Napoleonic era type outfit. He is wearing white and blue with a white and blue hat with a large white feather. Well he and his crew are dancing and singing on the ship and then the next song plays and Park Bom (with her vibrant red hair) comes out of the ocean as a mermaid and starts to sing her song. She is basically like the little mermaid at this point and there she is, singing her solo. Well once she’s done, another song comes up and CL with her blonde hair like pops out of the chimney-thingy of the ship and starts to do her rap. She is also a mermaid but for some reason it’s like she is stuck in that chimney thing and I’m on another ship thinking WTF?

So I’m in this other ship with this lady who is the captain, her second in command, and some other guy. Well I had to get down from wherever I was to tell them how stupid CL the mermaid looked. Then the captain bursts into song in the ship and the crew are dancing with her and the random guy is singing backup. I notice he has a good voice so I tell the captain to let him sing a solo. Well the captain is caucasian but she sang a Korean song. The random guy is African American but he starts to sing a Korean song too. He is singing this oddly upbeat Korean song that totally does not match the guy’s physical appearance and he is holding with lime green notepad with like a happy face on it and the second in command, who is also African American, was like “…this is gay.”

Well as he is getting close to finishing his song, captain G-Dragon and other captains come out of nowhere to sing backup for the guy (oh yeah, Minzy was a captain too). Apparently the random guy is some sort of retired Admiral and  G-Dragon is trying to get him to get out of retirement and help him fight like some other enemy (don’t know who though). Well, the guy doesn’t want to come out of retirement and GD is like “noooooooooooo!” So the admiral starts walking back to his ship and GD starts to follow him. Well there is this like magical rule or something that you can’t walk onto someone else’s ship uninvited so when GD stepped onto the other ship, his ship shoots out this purplish pink bubblegum rope to grab GD and take him back to the ship. The rope then turns into this purplish pink blob thingy with eyes and short arms and legs and is holding back GD. GD is pissed and he is all like “If you don’t let go of me, I will bite your arm off.”

Well the guy goes back to his ship and GD is pissed. The next scene shows the purplish pink blob to now be sickly green and missing his right arm. GD had  bitten it off and thrown it into the ocean. Well, the ocean isn’t really made of water. It’s kind of this more solid form of purple jello and you see the arm floating on top and one of the little ocean critters sees it and is like “Oh God…” and starts to gag. Yeah, oh and the sky is constantly sunset.

This dream was entirely in song except for the last part. Yeah, sleeping with music on gives me such weird dreams.

Obsessed: Hair edition

I am obsessed with hair. I just think hair is so much of your look. It frames your face. Depending on the color, it can make you glow or wash you out. The cut is important to compliment the shape of your face. It's pretty amazing how much hair can impact how you look and how different you can be once you change it. I think that's why getting a hair cut or a new color or style is such a big deal in changing yourself or going to a new phase in your life. It really does make you feel and look different.

I've had this dilemma all my life. When I have short hair, I want long hair. When I have long hair, I want short hair. When I have medium hair, it could go either way. I have gone through a spectrum of lengths ranging from an accidental short bob to down my back and to my butt. Fringe bangs, side bang, short bangs, long bangs, wispy bangs, heavy bangs, and of course, no bangs. I've had my natural black hair to brown to an even lighter brown to a reddish brown then to jet black.  I've decided now that jet black looks best and I'll probably stick with that from now on. But the length issue still remains.

Freshman year of college, while in my short hair phase (still in that phase by the way) I was introduced to clip in hair extensions. It was the solution to one of my most mulled over problems! And in going with what I usually do when I discover something new that I like, I compulsively buy. Got my first extensions sophomore year, fall semester. Here I am about a year later and I now have extensions to last me for quite a while.

I do mean it when I say I was buying them compulsively. Sometimes I can relate almost to those girls on "My Shopping Addiction" because I never tally up all the purchases for this. I do keep track of how much I pay though to ensure my next purchase will be around the same price or hopefully lower. But, and this price may shock you, the total amount of money I have spent on all this hair is about... *cue drumroll*

$340

Yes, I was surprised about it too. So I've told myself I'm not buying anymore hair until the sets I have now crap out and need to be replaced. That won't be for a while. Oh gosh, seeing that number makes me feel so guilty.

Dream: A prankster

I had forgotten why I don't write down my dreams anymore. So this morning, I attempted to write down my dreams from last night. Then I remembered why. Typing down these dreams takes very long and I really do need to search my memory quite hard for what happened. It's not second nature like it was before. It's gone out of habit. However, I want to get back into the habit. So, here is last night's dream:

A group of friends are hanging out at a house. I honestly don't know their names but names are never important in dreams but I'll label them. There is a girl, I'll call her Angel because she dresses in all white frilly cutesy dresses with blonde hair. Another boy, I'll call him Sky, is blue like the sky. He is skinny with light brown hair and light skin. The last, Earth, from his dark skin and dark brown hair. Sky and Earth were cousins. Angel was just their friend.

That's enough of description. Anyway, the three of them loved to play video games and that's exactly what they were doing. This part is a little blurry in  my memory but a man comes out of nowhere, hiding the rest of the family. He was a trickster. He had put them in a jar and we had to shake the jar and take off the top to let them out. So they shook the jars to let out the rest of Earth's family. The prankster just laughed and for entertaining him, he gave Sky an aerosol can that can change time, either forwards or backwards, of whatever he sprays it on. As an example, he sprayed the face of a little girl and made her face look old while her body was still young. He put the aerosol can in Sky's hand and disappeared.

They continued to play video games then Angel went into the back to use the bathroom. Instead, she saw something odd in the back room. Inside the broom closet was a portal to another world. She goes in and there is this barn selling horses. The female owner goes to show her the horses. She says to Angel that she can only have one horse. One horse was a tan jumping horse. Another horse is a fast black horse, shorter than the tan one. The third isn't even a horse, it's a wolf. Angel chooses the tan horse. She didn't like how loudly the wolf would howl. The owner takes out the tan horse and puts it in a stable that is apparently Angel's. She tells her she can come back anytime to see her horse. Then Angel leaves and is back at the house while the other two are still playing video games.

Earth's mother comes in and tells them that they are all going on a trip. They all get into the car, a honda pilot. Earth is driving while his mother is in the passenger's seat. Sky and Angel are in the second row. Then Earth's two other younger siblings are in the back row. They drive over this hill and suddenly it's nighttime. It's a dark road in the middle of a field so Earth turns on the headlights. There are lots of cars on this road going both ways but none of them have their headlights on except for Earth. He gets really frustrated and honks at them. They got to a really odd intersection where three roads intersect. No lights and no stoplights, no stop signs so it's all just chaos. Earth just goes and luckily, they don't get hit.

At the other side of the intersection, there is less traffic. People are parked on the side and walking. Earth's mom said they seem to be walking to the concert. Angel looks out the window and sees a whole bunch of people walking to the concert in a large stadium with lights flashing and lot's of music and screaming fans. They pass the concert dome and suddenly it is empty. No cars parked, no people walking. Sky gives Angel a flashlight to look if there are people but it won't work properly. The flashlight is so dim. So Sky turns on the light on the car by the handle above the door on Angel's side. The light was so bright that she could clearly see now.

Still, no one was on that side. Just fields. It was very creepy. Earth decides to go somewhere else. There is an old white wooden house and he slows down by it. An old lady is out on the porch and says hi. Instead of stopping, Earth plows the car into the house and makes a U-turn through it. Instead of going back on the road, he plows through the fence and through two more houses before getting onto an entirely different road. He goes down that road and suddenly, it's daytime.

They pass by an amusement park of sorts so Earth parks the car nearby and they all get out. They walk on this empty swimming pool looking thing full of nets and ropes where you can swing around. They put you at the bottom and you have to climb your way out. There are lots of people around and lots of people playing in this area, especially kids. The task was simple enough. They swing on the rope and to the wall where they climb up to the exit.

Angel sees someone, a girl she knows and runs out the area, jumps over the fence and catches the girl's attention. The girl recognizes Angel and gives her a smirk. Angel asks what she is doing here. The girl says there is something very suspicious about this place. Angel says she senses that too, but she hopes the girl doesn't betray her like last time. The girl says this time, they are on the same side. The two of the hug and the girl whispers in her ear to be careful and if something comes up, them together should be able to handle the situation. After all, they used to be good partners in solving these type of things. As Sky comes, the girl says bye and leaves.

With that to think about, Angel says she'll go somewhere quiet. It's pretty loud where they are now. Sky hears his aunt calling for them. He says he'll meet her wherever and leaves. Angel goes to this odd room carved out of the trunk of a large tree. The room is the size of an average bedroom and the tree is the size of probably a building. Angel looks out the doorway of the room, where it leads to a drop to the sandy beach below. From this high up, she could see the sunset by the ocean perfectly. It has such warm colors reflecting on the water and into the room. Inside the room is a single mini-fridge. She had heard from earlier that Earth's family wanted some coffee. She knew they made it in a special way. She remembered putting the coffee in cans and putting condensed milk into it. She forgot after that.

Sky comes in through the big doorway. He says that he was able to convince his aunt that he will be with Angel for the rest of the day. He feels something suspicious too about the place. He is going to investigate with her. Earth comes in last, saying he can't come but he needs to make coffee for him and his family. Angel says she started the process but forgot if they wanted 1% or 2% milk afterwards. She didn't want to get it wrong. Earth begins to make the coffee.

Both Sky and Angel notice Earth's armband with four leather flowers on it. Sky comments about how close they were up until two years ago. Each flower represented an important person in Earth's life but he can only have four. With it, he senses the whereabouts and impending danger of the person assigned to the flower. Angel and Sky used to be on it but Earth keeps commenting "family comes first." Angel and Sky give him a blank stare, asking if they are practically dead to him now. No longer important but Earth keeps saying "family comes first."

He finishes the coffee and puts it on a tray. A woman comes out of nowhere and thanks him for using the whatever company's product he is using. He attempts to pay her using gold coins but she refuses, saying it is complementary. Angel playfully takes them, saying she'll have them. Earth gets extremely angry and turns into a frightening, golem looking thing. He demands them back. Angel sighs and hands them over, however the coins are snatched out of her hand. They hear laughter from above sounding much like the prankster from before. Earth is furious and jumps up in an attempt to attack him. Sky flies up to see what is going on. Angel notes that the bracelet Earth has leaves a chain to the floor, grounding him somehow. She jumps up there and sees Earth about to kick the prankster in the face in an attempt to get the coins back.

I wake up. The End.
