I paid a lot for this set. This was a big splurge for me and the most expensive hair styling tool I have ever bought. Parting with this much money for a single item was almost painful, but I still think it worth it. Now, I've owned a lot of cheap curling irons before just because I'm such a cheap person. They never really curled my hair and after curling with lots of hairspray, they would fall out within 20 minutes. It was very disappointing. However, I never could justify buying such an expensive curling iron before, but my family members changed my mind. You definitely get what you pay for.
Now this 4play is pretty pricey, but it's like you get four curling irons in one. You can have a variety of sizes and the tiny 9mm to 18mm mini reverse is quite an interesting little gadget. Of course, I had to put it to the test. My friend, who has pin straight Asian hair, reports having hair that does not hold a curl and even with lots of hair spray, does not stay. She says the only time her hair stayed in curls was when a professional did it for a wedding but even then, it had fallen out by then end of the night. She had such long hair so I found her to be the perfect candidate in putting this curling wand to the test.
I chose to use the 9mm to 18mm series. I did her hair myself. I did not use any hairspray because I wanted to see the ability of this curling iron on its own. The left picture is the hair right after I had curled it. Then my friend put her hair in a bun and slept in a bun overnight. The right picture is her hair the next day.
I'd say it worked pretty well and she thinks so too.
